Centuries ago when immigrants traveled across the Atlantic Ocean from Europe, the Statue of Liberty
was often the first thing they saw as they approached the United States. The Statue of Liberty stood out in their
memories as they made their new life in the U.S. Sunday School should stand out the same way in a child's mind as they
get older. The Bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when
he is old, he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). A child's moral compass is in place by the time he or she reaches
the age of 9. In other words, all the morals a child will ever have take place by their ninth birthday. As someone
put it, think about the future president of the United States, he had all of his morals by the time he turned 9 years old.
It is so important that we put the best people in our Sunday School classes who have a burden, pray, and prepare. In
our scary world children need Sunday School more than ever. Our children will not survive without God. He
is great and loves them beyond our comprehension. He is grieved by all who offend them: "But
whoso shall offend one of these little ones which
believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of
the sea" (Matthew 18:6). Those who take on the challenge of teaching Sunday School in a way that pleases God
will be greatly rewarded in heaven.
